Brincadeiras que brincavas mais is a video that forms part of an investigation into childhood play. Using different formats, the video presents excerpts from interviews and recorded conversations on this topic with people from diverse backgrounds and age groups. Primarily reflecting on the Portuguese context, it shares various experiences of playing, dreaming, and drawing. It also addresses social issues such as gender separation, education, rules, parenting, and sexual orientation, among others.
The cards appearing throughout the video contain anonymous testimonials from people who wrote to me during the presentation of my performance Sobre as brincadeiras de infância, presented in collaboration with O Bastidor at ESAP, Porto, at Branda, Porto and during Segundas da Z at Galeria Zé dos Bois, Lisboa. The drawings that also appear throughout the video are from my childhood and my brother Rúben Pontes. Many are solely by Rúben, who created labyrinths for me to play in; some are mine; and many are collaborative works or distinct versions of the same drawing created separately by Rúben and me.
