“Nos gestos onde o amor habita” is a project that reflects on the act of cooking and the intentions behind this gesture. The book presents a duality between the photographic record of an offering ritual to Yemanjá, Goddess of the Sea in Candomblé, and the texts that accompany the images, which reflect on the act of cooking, the intentions invested in it, and the ritualisation of this domestic gesture. There is, within the ritual, an idea of manifestation through action. In this sense, the performance explores the act of cooking as a moment of expressing love, care and affection, especially when cooking for someone you love. By giving attention to the cooking time itself, the performance invites a meditative presence. It encourages those who witness it to tune into the moment, sharpening their hearing, smell and taste.
