Carrinho-oficina
(Mobile Workshop Cart)
2026
metal tubes, plastic tarp, plastic crates, MDF, drawing materials

This project was developed during the artist residency at FAAP – Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado, located in the Lutécia Building at Praça do Patriarca, in downtown São Paulo. The square is a site where several unhoused families gather, with the presence of children making visible specific dynamics of coexistence, vulnerability, and the appropriation of public space.
The Carrinho-Oficina was conceived in response to this context, informed by observations of local street life and the mobile structures of informal commerce found throughout the city. It developed through dialogue with some of the people inhabiting the square, taking shape as a device for encounter and exchange.
The work was activated during the month of April within the residency, creating informal moments of interaction in the public space. Beyond these activations, the cart remains as a sculptural object, carrying within it the relationships and processes that informed its making.

This artwork is part of the Brazilian Art Museum of São Paulo.
